Several candidates refused to answer after multiple emails and phone calls. Their response is marked “Refused to Answer” only after they were asked face to face and still refused to answer. If those candidates won’t respond to the voters before they get elected, can we expect them to listen after being elected?
The positions of several candidates are based on their history in office because they never responded to us after multiple tries.
Note_1
Candidates marked with Note_1 already hold the office that they want us to reelect them to. Rather than simply publish what they say during their campaign, we consider their actual records while in office to be a more reliable indicator of their true positions since actions speak louder than words. Those candidates have already had the opportunity to act on these issues and clearly represent our local views to state and federal officials. If reelected, we can expect these candidates to continue to fail us on these issues.
County Commissioner Steve Stuart and City Councilman Bart Hansen are strong supporters of the CRC plan that includes billions in debt, light rail, tolls, and is proceeding without a vote by our community.
Like Mayor Tim Leavitt, Note_1 incumbents may say they are opposed to tolls. But they have no record of opposing tolls or light rail. They have no record of supporting an election that would allow the citizens of our community to vote on tolls. Tolls will be imposed unless we replace these office holders with leaders who are committed to taking decisive action to defend our community from state tyranny.
Note_2
Tim Probst is an incumbent that answered agree on all our statements. Although he has not sponsored any legistlation or demonstrated leadership to oppose tolls on the I-5 corridor, he has voted against tolls on the 520 in the Puget Sound region. However, the overwhelming contributors to his campaign are strong supporters of tolls and light rail.
Note_3
Judges and legal staff are typically inhibited from taking positions on these issues. Clark County has so far been denied the right to vote on tolls or light rail. Note_3 candidates have a good record of supporting voter and private property rights.
